Is the President-elect planning to privatize Fannie and Freddie? If so, why? I didn't realize that there is a problem that merits fixing? What am I missing? Is this a give-away?

Replied

For most of their existence Fannie and Freddie were privatized.  During the GFC, the Obama administration took control of these entities and they have since been 100% controlled by the government.  (Some have argued that the actions of the Obama administration were illegal taking.)

The main problem with having it controlled by the government is that it has been, and will continue to be used for political purposes, right or left, depending on the administration.

I'd rather see it outside government control.
