Fueled by growing corporate behemoths such as Samsung, Amazon, Texas Instruments and Intel, the Lone Star State has now been recognized for an entire decade of economic development wins by a respected publication on the topic.

Site Selection magazine awarded Texas the 2021 Governor's Cup on March 1 for having the most capital investment projects in the United States. The state had roughly 1,123 projects underway in 2021, according to Site Selection's annual rankings, which is 342 more projects than the year prior.

Texas' project count was more than double the 507 projects counted in No. 2 Ohio and 480 counted in No. 3 Illinois last year, according to the magazine

It marked 10 straight years of Texas' reign atop the cup standings, representing the immense corporate wealth being poured into the state and reflecting its rising status as both a population and business powerhouse.
