One of the things that we hear on the podcasts are the success stories of these people and where they currently are in their journey. We hear some of the broad strokes of the steps taken to get to a particular point. The same seems to be true on the forum posts. There are a lot of beginner questions asked, and more experienced investors providing answers.
One of the things that we do not usually hear are the stories of how a business is built from the ground up. We don't hear all of the sleepless nights staring at the ceiling when your money is held up in a deal and you aren't sure how it is going to work out. The position's that we put our families in when we push the limits to break through to the next level. The stress, the sacrifice, and the unrelenting journey for the few that "make it" where every hurdle is circumvented or just blown directly through. There are very few people out there who refuse to take no for an answer and remain unrelenting. Those are the people who aren't discouraged but more over are inspired by the words, "You can't do that". I hear those words and its like I'm sitting in a Ferrari and just got the green light.
Then you get caught up in growing and building this machine that you have built and you do not realize your success until you take a moment and slow down. There is never that ah ha moment where you realize that you made it because you are simply too busy.
I have my story, the struggle, and the journey from when I was a poor kid growing up, then when I began investing from the age of 22 or so to today at 31 years old where I have attained what in my perspective is success through real estate which impacts several categories of my life. If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to tell it... every set back and disheartening moment that ultimately led to a successful business.
The reason that I am writing this post is simple. Forget all of the other posts out there. Forget about impressing people, and forget the BS most importantly. Egos abandoned prior to a reply post even being typed. The people who post in the, "As a matter of fact" fashion... I'm good hearing from you. I don't want people dogging on other people and acting like know it alls because the most valuable lesson I learned was what I didn't know. I attribute my success to 2 factors. 1- unrelenting determination. 2- the ability to admit and identify that I need to utilize people who are better at a particular skill set than me and check my big head at the door. No college taught me that. Life taught me that.
I am not an investor, I am a high school educated self made businessman who made the difficult journey and transition from government assistance apartments as a kid to the proverbial country club. (Even though I am a terrible golfer and would much rather be ripping ice cold beers on a beach or riding a motorcycle), but you get the point.
I want to hear the stories from self made businessmen/women. It doesn't matter if your a retail flipper, wholesaler, landlord, property manager, realtor, lender, or any other aspect of this business. I want to hear the story with all of the gritty detail and struggle of how you built your business and made it. In those stories of how you had to overcome specific setbacks and obstacles is where the true knowledge gets tapped into on this site. Is it great to know the eviction process in XYZ Oklahoma? Yes, but the real education will come from the guys who built something out of nothing doing deals in the trenches and how they rose above. So please... SHARE.......
