How do I add value to people for networking?

So I recently have been thinking about how I can build upon my networking skills and one of the techniques I've seen to gain a mentor is to add value to them or help them in some way but I haven't really seen how to do this. Does anyone know how I could add value to someone to make a meaningful interaction and relationship? Thanks in advance!
