Raleigh is trying to encourage more ADU development
Hey everyone who lives or owns properties in Raleigh NC.
As a builder and a real estate investor here in Raleigh North Carolina, I try to keep in communications with the city of Raleigh and they have published multiple times that they are focused on affordable housing. Recently, Raleigh has noticed accessory dwelling units AKA ADUs as a good idea to encourage to help with the affordability crisis.
Raleigh now has approved plans for fast track ADU builds that can be purchased online which helps investors speed up the process in the permitting side of development.
But recently, Raleigh is noticing, not as much traction as they would hope so they just put out a workshop to help the city figure out how to encourage more homeowners and investors into Building accessory dwelling units.
Are any investors in this group? Curious about building an accessory dwelling unit on one of their properties or Main property located in the city of Raleigh?
What questions do you have about ADUs and what would you feel like would help you make that decision about building on your property?
I’m going to discuss issues that cause investors to not build with the city .
I feel like the major things are finances, setbacks, and no tax or grant encouragement.
