Hi! I'm doing some preliminary research on both relocating for retirement (within 5 yrs) and investing in the following areas and I'm hoping to get some thoughts from those of you who have first-hand knowledge. Any feedback on market, weather, rurality, proximity to city-life, etc. is much appreciated.

Asheville City / Weaverville / Black Mtn / Brevard / Hendersonville / Waynesville / Lake Lure / Boone / Marion

Hi! I'm in Hendersonville NC and it's fantastic!!!  All of the cities you mentioned are growing substantially and many retirees who have picked the western NC mountains.  There are lots of options for vacation rental type properties in Henderson & Buncombe counties.  I have found it a little more difficult for the numbers to work for longterm rentals, as rental rates haven't risen nearly as  much as property prices. But I know many people who have long term rentals as well.  I'm a real estate agent in the area, flip houses, and have one vacation rental that will be remodeled and ready to rent in Fletcher (Near airport).  We are doing vacation rentals in Brevard next.  Happy to help you however I can when you are ready to get connected to the investor community here.  All in all - it's a great place to be.
