Why you need Instagram!

Question

I don't know about you guys, but I love Instagram! If your actively investing or looking to start soon I think Instagram is a pretty good app to use in your spare time, it allows to you connect with other via pictures and videos. Hey I'm not a big reader, but I'm growing into it. I feel Instagram is my best friend right, every minute theirs a investor on my timeline showcasing his progress(what he's reading, what he does daily, his new deal, renovations, headaches, and their life outside real estate) and not to mention you can keep eyes on your competition.

Just today I connected with a guy that flips and holds properties in Phoenix and LosAngles, we shared stories on how we got started, what were doing in our market to separate ourselves from everyone else. He also guided me on hard money loans and how they work. Although I still have further questions, I understand a couple do's and don'ts..

Over the last few weeks I've gained a lot of tips, marketing strategies, and expanded my network through Instagram

@Kerry Baird not to many sellers, but I hooked up with some buyers in other markets. AZ, CA, TX, FL markets seems to have a lot of investors on their.

You guys can't post your IG name on the forum section...you know there are BP police out here.  You might cane do it in the marketplace or maybe in your profile.  But I would love to connect with you guys and girls.  I don't think BP has a place on your profile for IG or facebook.  That needs to be added.

@Cameron Ellis I use instagram as well ( My IG name is [REMOVED]) but not as much as I should. I follow real estate related people but also I use it as a great motivational tool by following things and people that inspire me. I have a investor aswell that I connected that invest in the AZ and CA market. goes by property_brothers. Are you speaking about the same person?

I agree that its an awesome tool to connect with people, do research and have fun with. Lately I've sort of abandoned Twitter for Instagram as I really enjoy it much more these days. I was just listening to a podcast on the Instagram topic and had never considered it as a way to fish for leads.  I would appreciate any further comments, successes or failures with this approach.  Anyone find a buyer/seller in this manner?

So I have an excellent strategy that I use for my personal blog that I am going to be implementing in my RE business as soon as I get my license. I can't speak for how well it will do in RE but it has been VERY successful for my personal blog.

Check out this website: iconosquare.com (previously known as statigram). You can search hashtags and it will populate all the photos with that hashtag. You can then "Like" or follow the different people.

Here is where you get the results: find a few hashtags that you want to focus on, Ill use the example #dreamhomes (I have no idea if this is popular at all, just using as an example). Search #dreamhomes and just go and like tons of different photos, like everything if you want, doesn't really matter as long as you are liking a lot of content. If this works at all in RE like it does for what I use it for, you can expect anywhere from 3-10 people a day to start following you! It takes maybe 15-20 min a day max. I usually will do a couple 5 min sessions throughout the day where I search the hashtags and will like 50-100 posts.

Just to give you an idea of the success, I helped my fiance revamp her personal blog and implemented this strategy for her about a month and a half ago. We now have about 200 followers on instagram that are completely organic (not paid followers) and we even see people interacting and commenting on our posts, people that we have never met. Again, only a total of maybe 15-20 min a day of mindless effort.
