Caribbean Investing....

I have been tinkering with the idea of buying a condo/apartment/home on the beach somewhere in the Caribbean. From what research I have done so far the island of Margarita (of the coast of Venezuela) looks to be the best bang for the buck. There are developers there that have rental guarentees for 10 years backed by national bank. What are everyones thoughts or advice in finding income producing property on the beach? I am looking to throw 50k at one and let rent pay the rest. Comments/questions?
