Quote Architectural Drawings

BP Community,

I have a quote for $7500 for architectural drawings on a rehab we are doing. It's a 1300 sq ft house, we are enclosing the garage and we are also doing a drawing to add a carpoint aside the house. Wondering if this is a reasonable price as I have not had much experience with architectural drawings and their cost. Thank you for any advice/info

Just wanted to chime in related to permitting and architectural tasks. 

I do expediting for most of my projects and certainly add fees for permitting. This is standard in and around NYC. Usually $1200-2000k which is in tune with what an outside expediter is going to charge. Due to population density and Building Code complexity, the fee is well earned as it's not a walk in the park to obtain construction permits. I have had some take up to 6 months to obtain. A lot of hours in there.  

@Waylon Zook- In the middle of no where you are less likely to hurt/harm anyone else other than you. That's the big difference in what it takes to obtain a permit. 

@Bruce Woodruff- Architects can do structural scope as large as they are comfortable and allowed by the  jurisdiction. I do loading calc all the time for support beams, foundations, footings, framing, etc. That's common place. The magic word in my statements is "comfortable". Most if not all architects won't take on major structures since it's out of our expertise. That would be stupid of us plus open us up to liability which our Pro. Liability Insurance wouldn't cover. And as @Nik Moushon mentioned, we have engineering course in College and have License exams dedicated to understanding engineering theory, principals, applied materials and statics of strengths.
