Buying a townhouse with a foundation repair
I am looking at purchasing a 3 story townhome in Irving, TX, which is known to have shifting and expansive soil. The home was built in 2006 and is in great shape. However, there were 11 exterior concrete piers and 8 interior piers installed around the house to lift the foundation caused by a soil shift in 2015. The HOA in the community covers all exterior maintenance and repairs including the foundation and there is a lifetime warranty on the repair work. This will be my permanent residence so wanted advice if it was a poor idea to make an offer and get an inspection performed knowing there has been issues with the foundation.
