Central Air Installation

A lot of the properties in my price range have window AC units. I was curious how much contractors charge for a central AC retrofit. Should I even bother since I want to eventually rent the property? I feel central air would value. I know these will be ball park estimates. I'm know there are many variables. I priced 4 ton units between $1.5-2k. Any estimates or suggestions would be appreciated.

The value is based on how much more you can get for rent with central air. If you can not charge a higher rent then you are throwing money away.
