Legality of Adding RV Pads on SFR Property
Yo! My wife and I just moved to Houston, and are excited to get involved with the RE scene here!
TL;DR: We want to BRRRR a SFR on a large enough lot to put in a drive and 1-5 RV parking pads to increase cashflow, and give us a place to park our RV). Main questions are about zoning and land-use regulations. I know Houston's notorious for being lax with it's zoning (a very good thing in my book, but I feel a bit lost pouring over the county and city code books trying to figure out what restrictions we need to take into consideration. Anyone have experience with RV's and SFR's in Harris County?
Slightly longer version: We're full-time RVers, and have always liked the lifestyle. When we got to Houston I was surprised by how comparatively few small MFR properties were on the market (or even just in existence as I drove neighborhoods), so we shifted our focus to SFR, and wanted to get one that could accommodate our 36' RV. In doing so it dawned on me that if one will fit, we could probably get 2-3 more and rent the pads out by the month, either to RV's or even Tiny Homes (which I also love).
I started going through the city and county code books, but RV's seem to always fall in a gray-area. I know I can park up to a 36' RV on my own property, but couldn't figure out if having more than one (or a financial agreement with other people), would technically bump me into a travel-trailer park category or something. I'm open to doing additional utility connections to the city/county, or leaving it single. I'm in NW Houston (very near the Loop), and willing to move basically anywhere west of DT (I work in the Galleria area). So if you all have any experience with renting RV's or TinyHomes.
Thanks!

@Paul Leavitt In Houston, most all subdivisions are in a homeowners association and a RV is not allowed on the property. You'll need to get the covenants for a specific HOA. Houston isn't RV friendly. If you find one where it's allowed, you'll have to dig the black/gray tank lines & tie in to city lines, get an electrician to install the 50A plugs & get the water lines installed. Your largest hurdle is finding an area where they are allowed. The city or county won't have the info you are searching for about it.
