What Are Your Thoughts on Portland, OR Right Now?
What are your thoughts on Portland, OR right now? I am curious what my fellow BP users think of Portland, OR right now. I definitely have my own opinions about the current state of Portland but want to know what you think. How do you feel about the government officials, pandemic related impacts on the local economy, "urban camping" issues, and of course, the real estate market?
I have seen the urban camping situation get out of hand and it does not seem like much is being done about it. We are approaching 70% vaccinated, which in theory, means pandemic restrictions will be lifted completely... I also think the real estate market has leveled off slightly since I am seeing fewer deals closing for absurd prices. It seems like investors are searching for off-market deals right now. Personally, I am looking for a primary residence to purchase with my wife but refuse to pay $50k over asking and have been exploring wholesale/ off-market deals.

WE sold 25% of our first phase in Canby to portland residents who lived mainly on the north side were things seem to be worse with regard to the issues you stated.. folks that lived there 20 to 40 years and never thought they would move..
but they sell there 1600 sq ft 3 and 1 for 600k come to Canby buy form me for 2200 sq ft 4 and 2 semi custom brand new upgrade nicely upgraded and no bidding war.. price is the price of course and we are sold out right now but i have 60 more coming in the next 20 months..
all our buyers are coming from Oregon save one from Texas.. no one from CA..
AS for Portland all I can say is i dumped the projects I had there to get away from the mess that is the DBS and land use etc. incredibly poor at their jobs .. dont care not helpful at all .. just not worth it and now they have a nationwide rep as being terrible to work with when 2 to 3 years ago they had one of the best reps.. Mayor is incredibly poor and ineffective and the city council is out to lunch.. the defund the police has led to over 45 murders in Portland since they got ride of the gun task force same time last year there was maybe 5.. YA think its related.. they gave the gang bangers open season.. The lack of standing up to the homeless has created third world filth I feel so sorry for some of the residence where these folks are just trespassing and setting up camp and creating unimaginable filth and garage piles.. how this government could let less than 4k people homeless and protesters Antifa and militant BLMers destroy a city of 800k I have no idea.. I went down town last week to deliver a document at a law firm and an incredible amount of business were boarded and there ws for lease signs on every building.. some of it covid related but a large majority was Anfia and BLM peaceful protester breaking out their windows and looting their stores..
Bottom line government failed big time.
