Is this how cities will make up for financial shortfalls?
While owning more than a dozen properties for more than 20 years, I have NEVER heard from code enforcement about any of my properties.
Today I received a $50 “zero tolerance fee and civil administrative assessment fee” for....
Putting trash cans out more than 2 hours before sunset the day before trash collection...
Because sunset is at 8pm these days that means if you come home from work and put your trash cans out at 5:30, $50 fine for you, no First time warning, no notice of violation, just an invoice. If you took a poll of my renters neighbors how many do you think knew there was a $50 fine for putting your trash out at 5:30? (I mean a bunch of them probably do now as I assume they went door to door citing violations.)
Unlike the HOA's they don't even bother to include proof. Let the money grabbing begin.
Ps. Threat of lien and “lien processing fees” for failure to pay by due date. AND, my favorite part. “Future/recurring violations within the next 24 months will result in immediate and mandatory fees without notices or warnings.” OH, you mean the same as first time violations. This must be left over from when they did actually hand out warnings.
