Alabama Tax Certificate Redemption Process?

Getting a little frustrated with not being able to get a straight answer on this.  I purchased the Tax Certificate on a property in the Monte Sano area of Birmingham in August.  Property was sold to State in May 2017.  I heard from the Bessemer Cut Off Tax Office in early October that the property had been redeemed on September 6 by the owner.  I was told to contact the Tax Redemption Office in Jefferson County to find out how to get the money back.  The lady I spoke to was totally clueless.

I've been waiting and hoping to receive a check, but have not heard anything at all.  So I just called the State Redemption Office who told me that the responsibility was that of the Jefferson County Tax Office.  So, I called again and spoke to a nice lady who had no clue.

Is there something more I need to do to get my money (+ Interest) back?

If they had not told me in October, I would never have known that it was redeemed.

Thank you for your guidance!

Happy Holidays!

@Robert Sims, I'm curious about one initial thing. Was this Birmingham or Huntsville? Monte Sano is in Huntsville, in Madison County.

For future reference, it takes Jefferson County around 4 months to send checks to investors.  Madison County is much faster.

Also, it takes about that long for them to notify ADOR of a redemption. Always call the tax collector's office to see if there has been a redemption before sending your money to the State.
