E-recording Documents is the Best Thing Ever!

One of the best improvements we made this year was e-recording our own documents. This change has saved a huge amount of time, money, and aggravation. We get our recorded documents back lightning fast compared to the old ways. If there are problems with the document, we find out within a few days at most, have the ability to make corrections, and re-submit. We save on delivery since we don't need to FedEx assignments and other docs anymore.

In the "old days," we would ship our docs to attorneys or county recorders, who would record the docs for us. There was the lag time between shipments. You'd have to make sure the right person received the docs. You'd have to make sure you wrote the check for the right amount. The more I write about this, the happier I get, knowing that I don't have to deal with this anymore (except for the counties that are still in the stone ages and don't allow e-recording).

My worst experience in the "old days," was an AOM that I needed to record in Shelby County, TN. It took nearly 6 months to get the document recorded. The county required that the "Prepared By" section needed a person's name, address, and phone number. This is not that unusual and every county has their particular requirements. It was just irritating at the time since the AOM got kicked back about 6 times because of small errors like this or the check was off by a dollar (not kidding).

I agree with this. Simplifile is great. I know there are a few others out there. Unfortunately not all counties are yet on e-recording. It also saves you a good amount of money
