Advice on barment / foreclosure process

Birinder Singh
Posted

Hello good people,

I invested in a tax deed last year (in Fulton County, GA) and it has now crossed the one year redemption period without being redeemed.

Since this is my first go around - I'd really appreciate advice on the following:

- any references on lawyers /firms to work with to go through the Barment and foreclosure process without breaking the bank.
- Ball park ranges - what can I expect the cost of this process to be? (In the simple / non complicated scenario)
- time ranges - in the best / simple case scenario how long should I expect this process to take? (I'm guessing the worst case scenario can be long drawn and complex).
- Also, from my research I've come across the option to use Tax Title Certification instead of barment. I don't fully understand it yet. Any inputs on pros / cons of either aside from the supposed cost implications?

Feel free to share any other advice you might have on the topic.

Thanks much

- b
