Baltimore Sun: Assessment Appeals Up

Take a look at

http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/real-estate/w... "Tax assessment appeals persist in Baltimore" by Natalie Sherman Feb 5, 2015

The way I read it, it seems that because there are so many rentals and distressed sales and the tax rate is crazy high there are more and more tax assessment appeals in Baltimore City, more than the rest of Maryland.

Any thoughts?

@M Marie M. as a tax sale investor I am well aware of this under reported problem.

I know Brian who was mentioned in the article and . There is not a property anywhere in his neighborhood that has sold for over $200 K so his $245K assessment was not just laughably incompetent, but criminally negligent.

It is interesting to note that it is the poor black neighborhoods that are assessed as much as 500% to high when more affluent areas with a higher percentage of whites have reasonable assessments. Where is the liberal outrage over this!
