Gibson National Home - taking down a bearing wall
I am looking to gain some information as to if anyone has taken down a bearing wall in a National Home. I recently purchased a 1953 National Home (I believe it is a Gibson floorplan), and I am hoping to remove a bearing wall that currently is supporting a recessed header. I want to leave (and beef up) the post the recessed header is setting on, and then add an header from the post the rest of the way. As this is a prefab and on 2x3 studs, I am reaching out to see if anyone has removed any bearing walls in a National Home that may have any advice?
