Mold issue
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a home that has tremendous mold damage in the basement. The basement is finished but took about 2 inches of water during hurricane Irene a year and a half ago. My questions are1) how much does Mold remediation cost? 2) can it be done on your own with simple home supply's like bleach? If i purchase the house all the drywall and flooring will come out regardless but the main problem is the studs behind the wall. 3)If the studs are effected and have mold can I leave them in and simply remove the mold or must I remove the stud?

This is NOT a DIY project...
You'll may need to remove the sheetrock and flooring, use an anti-microbial to kill the existing mold, use dehumidification to dry out the area, scrub/shave the studs to remove spores (if the mold has penetrated the studs), etc.
The costs could be anywhere from $2000-10,000 in my experience, and each contractor will probably give you a different idea of what needs to be done. Some may try to rip you off, and you'll need to do your best to ensure that you're getting proper treatment at a reasonable price.
Get a bunch of bids, make sure the contractors have any required licenses, ask lots of questions, etc. Compare the contractors, their recommendations and their prices, and make the best decision you can.
Better yet, get some recommendations from other investors or from the local jurisdiction. Oftentimes, after a flood or a major destructive event, the local building department will compile a list of approved vendors. (they might have that list anyway)
Keep in mind that you'll have to disclose the mold and the remediation when you sell, so make sure you have it done right by someone reputable and appropriately licensed.
