Zestimate screwing me

Josh Meyers
Posted

I’m a contractor and I bought a foreclosure in February for $16k. AT THAT TIME the zestimate for the property was listed at $75k. I purchased and did a full rehab on the place(Electric, plumbing, refinished hardwood, THE WORKS.)

Fast forward to now and with all the updates the zestimate hasn’t changed from $75k. I’m aware that Zillow isn’t accurate, but that doesn’t matter to my buyers as they will still try to utilize this as a negotiation tactic. This house is 100% worth more than $75,000 as comps in MUCH worse condition are selling for $70-$75k.

What can I do? I think before I'd let Zillow skew my price tag I'd be better off running FSBO on Facebook. Is there a way I can force Zillow to remove my property from their website? Thanks for any help!

How often do people actually bring this up?  I wouldn't even want to negotiate with someone who is using Zillow as a negotiating strategy.  Any serious buyer should know better.
