Rehabbing a property built before 1978, lead based paint
Hi guys, I am new to REI and first time trying OOS BRRRR on a property built in 1949. I'm completely clueless about the proper steps to rehab a property this old since it could have lead based paint.
Assuming I don't do lead based paint inspection
1. Do I need to inform my GC that the property is old and possibly has lead based paint?
2. Are there extra rehab steps I need to take, and what are the costs if any?
3. Should I be worried about if a contractor later claims he became ill because he thinks there is lead based paint on the property?
4. Am I liable for improper handling of paint etc by the contractors if no lead based paint inspection is done during the duration of my ownership?
Alternatively... what are the benefits of doing lead based paint inspection for BRRRR?
