Flipping a House while Out-of-State

Question on investing out of state:  My mom and I live in ND.  We were hoping to buy a home in FL and hire a contractor for the big items, fly down when 80% complete and finish the painting and any little details ourselves.  Anyone have any good area recommendations or if this is even possible with the contractor cost?  We currently own a condo in Altamonte Springs, FL and have a renter in place, it seems as if the market there is pretty competitive though for a fix and flip. Thanks!
