Bathtub that doesn't require 3 walls???
This is kind of a dumb question. I'm looking at a house that needs a bathroom remodel. I think a picture is worth a thousand words here -- where the heck could I find a tub like the one below? Everything I see online is "alcove" which requires 3 walls and only has an apron on one side. Or, they are freestanding and expensive. Yes, I realize you could frame out a full-height or even a knee wall at the end of the tub, but it's already really tight with a tiny vanity crammed in at that end.
If I purchase the property and hire a contractor, I'd put it on him to figure it out, but nonetheless, this is just bothering me...

Hi Jim, We've ran into this situation quite a few times. There are several different ways to handle this. I'm assuming you are figuring your cramped space for the vanity using a standard 30"X60" dimensioned tub. They do make a 54" tub which would give you an additional 6" to build a knee wall within the same space.
Another option would be to use a two sided/double apron tub or even a free standing. You can google or check out selections on efaucets.com .
The last possibility would be to use a drop in tub and you build your apron around however you like and wrap in tile.
Hope this helps and gives you a few options. My recommendation would be the 54" tub with the knee wall. It's going to be the most cost effective and look the best in a tight space.
