PICS: What Is This Insulation Called??

Hello all, 

Can anyone help me identify this type of loose-fill insulation?  It is gray-white, fluffy, has small shiny strands in it, fluffs around like snow... Please see pictures. Any help is appreciated!  Thank you.

I have this same type of insulation in my California home.  I was build in 1956 not sure what you call it or if its safe or not. maybe mineral wool
