Soundproofing floors

I have a tenant in a basement of a property I own while a family (with young children) occupies the main floor and upstairs. I have an opportunity to replace the current flooring with hardwood or engineered hardwood, but I am worried about sound transmission (from chairs scraping, kids running, etc).

Has anyone had any experience with a soundproofing membrane that goes under engineered hardwood and claims to reduce footfall shock sound from traveling between levels? I also have radiant floor heating if that makes any difference.
