Handyman can connect eletrics for Mini Split

Hi guys

I have a handyman who is super knowledgeable and he is very comfortable connecting the 220 wires for a mini split and also for a hot tub. 
im getting extremely high quotes for a certified electrician to do it. 
what are your thoughts? Pay the money for a piece of paper or go let my guy take on the project?
