How do I treat this

Hello i'm working Insulating my garage. When we removed some of the wall we found that there was damage to the wood. Does anyone know what I can do to treat it ? Appreciate yall for taking the time to read

Looks like two 2x4s put together. If it is that, then just replace the old one with a new one you should be good to go.

     really cannot "treat it" but best is to replace the 2x4's or lag bolt a new 2x4 to them. I am not your structural engineer so take what I say (and others most likely) with a grain of salt and best to get a contractor to come take a look at it.
