1942 House - Curb Appeal renovation ideas . . . ?

I would like some renovation ideas:

I've got a 2100 sq. ft home under contract and want to maximize my ROI with proper renovations. It's a 1942 3 bed, 2 bath with good bones, roof and amazing views. It sits up behind the capital building in downtown Salt Lake City, UT in a $400K-plus neighborhood. My purchase price is mid 200's and ARV should be $400 - $425K. I want to keep the brick facade - maybe art deco? - but I've never rehabbed a home this old. I've got ideas for the yard and interior but what can I do to add some curb appeal to the structure and keep with the charm and style?

Any ideas from designers, architects, rehabbers would be appreciated.
