Finding whether an estimate is correct
Hi BP family,
I am remodelling my home in the seattle area.
What strategy would you recommend to find if an estimate is correct ? I am getting a lumpsum estimate for things like electrical, plumbing, but I am not sure what the cost is for.

Get multiple quotes for the same work. In any area the quotes should all be within 5-15% of each other. Anyone who is crazy high or crazy low compared to the others needs to be looked at carefully.
Beyond that, you need to become an expert on labor and material rates in your area or get connected with someone else that is.
