Repair edge on laminated countertop

Crappiest product, ever. Installed this laminated countertop in June 2021 and it was broke after just a few guests. We tried glueing it back on (left a seam right in the middle) but it just kept coming off. It's currently held on with duct tape on each end. It's right in the path of foot traffic and people apparently rub up against it.

What can I do to close off this end so it looks decent but doesn't keep breaking? I'm thinking of manufacturing a steel "cap" that goes over the end and glues or screws into place.
