Stone Foundation Repointing in Crawlspace
Hello, I'm currently under contract for a two-unit building. It's a worker's cottage style building that is probably between 100-120 years old. The building has a stone foundation that can be accessed from a crawl space that is below the entire lower level unit. During the inspection the inspector said there were portions of the mortar between the foundation stones that has pretty much entirely eroded away. That damage seemed to be limited to about a 20ft stretch on only one side of the building but he said likely the entire foundation should be repointed. The good thing is it hasn't seemed to yet affected any of the rest of the structural integrity of the house but would be a first priority fix.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with how much it costs to repoint a stone foundation in a crawl space? And if anyone has any recommendations on contractors for this type of work it would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
