Chicago Insurance Agent
Hello,
I am in the process of buying my first real estate investment property in Chicago (southside, Cermak and Califronia) and am looking for an insurance agent I could use to get some quotes and eventually use to put insurance on the property, any suggestions?
Also, I'll take any advice on types of insurance to get?
Thanks everyone for the help in advance!
Josh
@Josh Jacobson the type of property will influence the best agent and coverage to get.
Is it a single family, mixed use, 10 unit ? Each of these has its own ideal insurance program.
Good point. Meant to include that in my post. It is a a 6 unit multi family.
I have had excellent results with Forest Agency in Forest Park. They write all over the metro area and are independent agents.
@Mark Shelstad thanks! I'll reach out to them.
@Josh Jacobson i received some good rates on my multifamily from Farmers Insurance on Damen & Foster in Andersonville
Agent owners name was George and he was helpful
I have the same question, but for single family homes. Any recommendations?
Independent agents are my go-to resource as they can shop all the carriers for better rates and limits based on your personal situation. Not to say that insurance carriers don’t provide value, I just find solace that I can go back to the same person if I decide to change carriers should rates go up or if I’m not happy with any claims processing from that carrier.
Who I use: McCutcheon Insurance out in Mokena; they’re fantastic at walking you through the process from start to finish. They do commercial lines in addition to personal lines.
There are plenty of independent agents to choose from in the Chicagoland area and elsewhere.
