What book/event finally opened your mind?

Can you recall a single event or book that really expanded your thinking and opened you up to the possibilities?

Many people mention "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. I read that book, and a few others, and then bought my first investment. But then I didn't buy another investment for eight years because my limited mind told me I had already peaked.

It wasn't until 2016 that I heard a podcast about "limiting beliefs" (no longer available on BP) and I realized I had done the same to myself. I measured myself against my family and peers. Based on that measurement, I was successful. Only after really thinking about it did I realize I had put myself in a box and limited my potential.

Can you point to a specific instance in your life where your eyes were opened to new possibilities? What was the catalyst?

I love this question. For me it wasn't a single event, it was constantly hearing from podcasts, books, people that they started with nothing and became successful. The more I heard it, the more I thought... If they can do it, I can do it. I think just surrounding yourself with influential people and education as a whole can motivate someone to reach their full potential. Rich dad poor dad was a good first step for me too!
