A few comments over the last several days sparked a thought. Why do I enjoy investing in RE? Money is nice, but in some respects there are probably easier ways to make a living.

For me their have been several aspect of RE that fascinate me. I like the sense of accomplishment when a complete a remodel project. I like tinkering around a home. I enjoy meeting new people.

I grew up in rural areas and access to large areas of land to explore. I remember as a youth spending hours exploring endless trails.

Grandfather owned nearly 300 acres of farm land were he raised alfalfa. He didn't live at the property until he retired,, but he spent many weekends there. I lived closed to his home in Newcastle which was an old rural mining town. His home there was probably at most 2 acres, but he raised 40 head of cow, some pigs and a barn full of cats.

I guess I learned to enjoy the land and enjoyed the sense of accomplishment that comes from improving the land. In any case RE is in my blood to stay.
