How do you build and permit an ADU?
My business partner just permitted his 10th ADU in Los Angeles (aka accessory dwelling unit / garage conversion / in law unit / granny flat / casita / tiny house). It's a legalization of an unpermitted garage conversion near Hollywood. He's going to be sharing a 60 min, no-BS class on everything you need to know about designing, permitting, and building an ADU — such as costs/timeline, how to get approved fast, how to negotiate with architects/GCs, utility connections, etc.
I was wondering, what’s one question you have about ADUs? Cost? Timeline? Size? Rules? Process? Benefits?
I want to build one myself and want to help guide the conversation on what’s most useful.

He asked me to help find out what questions folks have on building and permitting an ADU, and since I love the Bigger Pockets community and know that folks here people are engaged in resource-sharing, I put the question here. I don't know what's in the presentation :) that's the whole point! He is my partner on other business ventures, there are not going to be 2 separate presentations... I am going to help him moderate his class with crowdsourced questions and I am also interested myself in building an ADU. Thanks for your feedback!
I think Will is confused on the verbiage of your original post. You said in the first post, third sentence "sharing" as in you guys have already made a video but yet are asking for questions to answer. I think your first post verbiage would have been better to replace "sharing" with "making". That's all.
I'd love to see the video as well as I'm new to the LA RE laws and still understanding the basics of ADUs in LA. Thanks
