Merging art and real estate investing

Here in Cleveland we're always exploring new avenues for taking old ethnic neighborhoods and turning them into tourist attractions. In one neighborhood, murals are popping up along the main commercial district:

I own some property there that could use a paint job. I thought to myself: for a little more money, why not hire an artist to paint a mural on the side of my house? It would contribute to the growing edgy aesthetic of the neighborhood, and I might even be able to demand a higher rent.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried something like this before. The mechanics of the situation (latex paint, etc) are what I fear most, although I imagine the problems you run into painting over brick are similar in character to clapboard siding.
