Starting a short term rental in Wisconsin

Hi All,

I've been looking at purchasing a property to use as a short term rental in and around Madison, Lodi, Spring Green, and the driftless region to the west. Anyone having luck owning or managing one currently? I'm using sites like airdna to help analyze deals but would like a little tip on how to navigate local licensing (if needed or not) and how I could maybe start one in Madison specifically what hoops I need to jump through?

My SO and I operate furnished rentals in Cudahy, WI. Honestly, our best source of tenants has been furnishedfinder.com . Rather than hosting people that say for a week at most, we've been targeting traveling professionals. Shortest stay has been 6 weeks; longest stay has been practically a year. And it's super cheap to advertise there (you pay a listing fee rather than a cut of each booking.) Plus, since our guests stay for more than 30 days, we're not subject to the short term tourist tax & licensing. Still recommend checking your local laws. Hope this helps!
