Hello all! I have been interested in investing in RE for some time now and wanted to get a property by late 2021.

I wanted to know what are some hot areas in NJ do you suggest investing in? I will most likely house hack and rent out rooms. Is there any area in particular I should look into? Any and all information is helpful!

You don't want to be in a hot area, then you are too late. As @David M. said, New Jersey is hot. Everywhere. You want to find an up and comer that is behind the crazy bids. In Essex, I like Belleville and West Orange, but they are both getting slammed with offers. In Morris, I like Boonton because the town is developing and could be like Denville. It also depends on your price point where you want to be. If you like South Jersey, Salem has some deals still. Everyone you know is wanting to house hack in NJ so you have to pinpoint where will work for you based on what you can spend, where you work, and what amenities you want to be near.
