Silly question about starting oil heating system

Dear All,

I have a quick question regarding oil heating system. I bought an old row house in Baltimore city. It has about 12 years old , oil heating system. I never used it before.  I have full oil tank. To start, do I just turn on the emergency switch on the wall, and the power switch on the boiler and adjust thermostat? Did i miss anything? I believed the system had been used in last winter. I just don't want to break it by doing things wrong. Thank you for your attention to my silly question.

Sincerely,

Ken
