My house - add on or move on?

So the house I live in is a 3/1 ranch. It was a step up for me a year ago when I ran into it just before it was headed to auction and got a nice price on it. I've redone almost the entire thing so far. I do like the house and the lot very much.
But now really at this point in my life what I need is a 4/2 and I'd like some more amenities.
I'm torn - do I suck it up for one more year to beat cap gains taxes and then buy a bigger better house, or add another bed and bath and whatever else I'd like to my house and stick around for a long while?
I'm not overly concerned about the cost of either plan, just my quality of life really. Maybe someone has some insight.
What would you do?
