I thought I'd start a thread on trading. If it garners enough interest maybe we can get an off topic trading forum going. I've learned there are not many trading sites out there nearly as fun as biggerpockets.

I became interested in trading by following precious metals. Next thing you know I have a Scottrade acccount funded and I am constantly reading about probabilities, ETFs, Forex, Market Sectors, Technical Analysis, etc...

This week my mistakes have been doing the opposite of "buy the rumor/sell the news." But I am new, so it's expected :)

The crazy volatile 2X and 3X ETFs seem like a way to win or lose big fast. This week I lost betting against the banks. I went long on the ETF FAZ. (3X shorting the financials) What was I thinking?.

There is a 2X real estate EFT that shot up nicely in July. URE. I will keep my eye on that one.

Last week I did better shorting individual stocks on the day of the durable goods report.
