HGTV fix and flip - good or bad?

I just saw a show last night on the Home and Garden Television channel where they were showing the process of buying a home, fixing and selling it for a profit. Not sure it's a series but it may be.

Back during the dot com boom everyone and their dog was a stock picker or had investment advice. I knew we were in bad shape when they were talking stock picking advice on ESPN.

Is this HGTV program a sign of the times or signaling doom?

What do you all think?
