Help with Florida (Moving from NY)

Posted

Hey BP community. I've been lurking and learning from this site and forum over the past few years, but this is my first post.

I grew up and reside in NY (Long Island), and run a very successful manufacturing company that takes up most of my time and has prevented me from being able to invest in my first RE property still.

I am considering moving my family out of New York and possibly to Florida. The no-state income tax alone can save my company / me around $100,000 per year and most likely more as it continues to grow. Lower rent and property taxes on commercial property, not to mention slightly lower cost of living and moving away from the tax-and-spend state and local governments here in NY, etc.. I work too hard and am just tired of forking over 50% every year.

Knowing that so many members on this site know the ins and outs of different communities and different states, I figured I would try my luck here and see if any members located in or familiar with southern Florida could provide any insight to which areas are worth looking into to raise a family, have good schools and sense of community, sports programs, and possibly with nearby industrial area.

I plan on taking a trip to Collier County in September and take a look around, primarily the Naples area.

Again, any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks!
