Newbie in North Carolina, looking to enter RE with full time job

I am interested in joining the Real Estate community as a means of creating "passive income" while working my full time job. I have been listening to the podcast for the last month and have gotten several books and have started to dive into them. The more I hear/read/talk about this endeavor, the more exciting and terrifying it becomes. Where does one even start - get a real estate license for access to MLS? Create an LLC? I'm sure the answer lies somewhere in these BP forums; the sheer number of posts/replies will take time to work through. I live/work in Durham NC.
