MI - where is the love?
Hello BP Community!
I am very excited for my first post after having consumed BP forums, articles, podcasts, etc. night and day for many months.
Of course I have a question, but first would like to say how impressed I’ve been by the expertise, accomplishment, and generosity of this community. I never thought I would learn this much so readily!
I have lived in the metro Detroit suburbs for my entire life. My husband and I have been learning about REI with the goal of
generating cash flow sooner than later. The sooner is because of our ages as we are in our early 50’s. We have been working as senior business professionals and believe our experience will transfer to REI (with continued learning).
So now my question... I see a fair number of posts from fellow Michiganders, but rarely mention of specific success stories from local Michigan investments - with a few exceptions. In contrast, I see many posts about Ohio investing success.
- In other words, do you successful Michigan investors invest locally, or OOS?
- If local, do you invest in metro Detroit suburbs, Detroit city, or other areas? I’ve been researching sub-markets such as Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Saginaw, etc. in order to determine pros/cons vs. metro Detroit. I appreciate any thoughts on this.
- Do you have success with Michigan SFH, 2-4 MFH or larger MFH in Michigan?
Part of why I ask these questions is because much of what I've learned touts the benefits of local REI. But, there is obviously also much said about the importance of picking markets with economic growth, etc and MI is not the best for this.
I apologize for the lengthy introduction, but am looking forward to what you have to say...
Thanks for reading! Oh, and Go Green!
