Hello BP community!

I am a few weeks into researching real estate investing and wanted to introduce myself! I currently work for a healthcare IT company in an analyst role and have been working from home in that capacity for just over 2 years now. I also moved from South Carolina to Connecticut 2 years ago, so lots of stuff going on!

My husband and I have been talking for a while about ways to increase our cashflow so we can retire early and travel the world together. We were both burned (separately) with the 2008 crash and houses we couldn't sell for what we paid for them so we were hesitant to jump into real estate. However, when my husband came across BP the advantages couldn't be ignored!

We have gone through several iterations of our plan: short term vacation rentals -> single family rentals -> multi-family buy and hold BRRRR. It is difficult trying to figure out the best 'entry' strategy into the real estate investing game. Especially for an engineer who likes to take a long time to make decisions (husband) and an analytical person who wants to know exactly how to do everything perfectly before attempting (me). My goal with BP is to learn as much as I possibly can about the business and to grow a network I can rely on for help and advice as needed. So far it seems that BP is great at helping others in the community out with advice!

I look forward to learning with you and from you!

@Sarah Giffin

Hello Sarah, I’m new to Real Estate Investing as well and just trying to grow my knowledge and expanding my network as well. I came across your post and I hope that you’re able to find that team that you need and come across the strategy and/or strategies that you initiate in order to create success. I can’t offer too much value at the moment. (I will be able to soon) However, I can say that reading books, podcasts, videos, and blogs are extremely important and they’re growing my knowledge pretty quickly. Currently reading The Book on Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner. It’s a great read if you haven’t and it further dives into the strategies you’ve mentioned.
