Tyler McLeod from Birmingham, AL
Hello everyone,
My name is Tyler McLeod. I am a 21 year old graduating college senior that recently started looking into real estate investing. I found Mr. Brandon Turner's Real Estate Investing In Your Twenties page and began trying to soak up every bit of information I could. Downloaded the ebook and wrote it down word-for-word to try to fully understand what he wrote.
I've become enthralled with personal finance and saving money to build wealth. I am starting from scratch though. I don't have any credit, but I also will graduate debt-free, so I am that much further ahead in that sense.
I started "seriously" saving and investing my money around August when I opened a Roth IRA and started putting money in it every two weeks to invest in stocks, an index fund, and recently a couple of REITs.
I am going into Industrial Distribution with my degree. Hopefully, some kind of industrial equipment sales position. From there, I want to start saving money each month to eventually have enough for a down payment for a property.
I aspire to buy-to-rent properties (like Mr. Turner's multifamily property strategy). I want to remain more hands-off when it comes to investing as well. I would like to invest in lower-risk opportunities. I have read some of Hipster Investments's posts and background too, which intrigued me. I like how she chose to invest in places that she didn't necessarily live. I feel similarly as I am not sure how well real estate investing would do in Birmingham, AL. But then again, I have no experience, so I could very well be wrong.
I am currently looking to learn as much as I can while I continue to save money for the next few years before I get rolling. I would love to hear from people who have had success starting at a younger age, or anyone with advice. I want to connect with others with experience and network, learn the vocabulary, study strategies, and eventually make my first purchase by the time I am 26, if I can come up with a plan to do it. I aspire to earn passive income from real estate while enjoying the educational journey along the way.
Thank you all in advance. This seems like a great community of people that I can learn so much from.

P.S. Tyler McLeod - I don't think people have ever called me "mr." before. I like it! I think I'll have Joshua Dorkin call me "Mr. Brandon Turner" from now on! :)
