Hey everyone,
I have been a member since October of last year after being introduced to the website by an acquaintance and haven't used it much. However, I've been churning through the podcast and currently am up to episode 111 and finally gave in to the advice from Brandon and Josh and decided to jump into the forums.
It occurred to me recently realized that real estate investing was a inkling of an idea that has always been a persistent throughout in my life and I've really been wanting to finally make a more concrete move into investing in real estate.
For the last 2 years I have been attempting to learn as much as possible about home-owning and home upkeep and have tried to pick up small jobs related to this while finishing up Nursing school. Being a city boy through and through (born and raised in NYC), there was a lot to catch up with but I feel like I've been doing a decent dent in my gap of knowledge.
Listening to the podcast, reading the essentials Rich dad poor dad, 4 hour WW etc, (actually listened to the audiobooks rather than read the books), Endless "This old House" youtube videos and any books on housework that I can find for a buck or two at my local goodwills. anything I can get my hands on on a lackluster student income.
Now, I feel I have learned to be slightly handy and very recently reached out to a flipper who is working on a condo and just had a nice full day of laying down laminate (will probably buy good kneepads as pillows just didn't cut it)
I am currently in Connecticut, The New Haven area to be more precise. I do have the thought that I would like to stay close to home in terms of investing, I will soon be aiming to be a travel nurse and have no reservations on keeping an eye out on a market that will allow me to do well and enjoy the scenery (have never been out west and would love to see what cali and texas has to offer)
My most recent activity I have been working on is taking down addresses on properties that still have Christmas lights on, or whose yards look in disarray, just to get an idea of what things I need to keep an eye on when I finally purchase my first property. With that being said, I think wholesaling is what I will start with as a base to learn every basic aspect of real estate investing. I am also interested in flipping with the ultimate goal being buy and holds for retirement.
I am here to make connections, find anyone near me who needs any type of help or would just like to spitball ideas on what to do, and just to keep my head in the game of real estate more and more the further I get into my initial career of nursing. Thank you for your time, guys. I hope to make some connections here and see what can be achieved.
