Hello all,

Long time reader, first time poster. I am in public accounting working towards a CPA (1/4 tests completed). I have finally moved on a deal in Mobile, Al, which is an out of state investment for me being from South Florida, but i have a good web of friends from college that live in Alabama; a few in Mobile even. I am in need of a reliable surveyor, and possibly a home inspector. I have a friend who I trust that is a general contractor, but he lives 2 hours away from Mobile, however, i think he would travel to make some money. Is there anything to be weary of when using a general contractor versus a home inspector? Also, what could i expect to pay for these services. Property is a 3/2, 1800 sqft, Single family home. Thanks for all input and advice that may even be unrelated to the question asked! I have already learned a ton from this site and it is an impressive community.

Nick
